AVAILABLE HOUNDS

"A dog is a smile and a wagging tail. What is in between doesn't matter much."
--- Clara Ortega

Magnus - "Now I run for fun in my forever home!"

Kids and greyhound puppies...a socialization visit (for the kids or the puppies?) at Moore Greyhound Farm!

The dogs listed and pictured below are currently available for adoption (unless otherwise noted). If you are interested in any of these greyhounds, please refer to our adoption application for more information. As of August 1, 2006 the adoption fee is $175.00 unless otherwise noted. Your adoption fee check must be sent with your application to be considered. If, for any reason your application is denied, your check will be returned.

Updates:

Please note that due to safety issues, TLC does NOT consider "Invisible Fencing", or underground fencing an acceptable fence for greyhounds. A secure, 4 to 6 foot FENCE, enclosing part or most of a yard is a REQUIREMENT! Invisible fencing doesn't keep the "bad guys" out of your yard.

Reminder -- Transportation of dogs adopted through TLC is the responsibility of the adopter. If you adopt a dog from us, please plan to pick up your dog at our facility (Country Kennels), located at 323 2400 Avenue, Solomon, Kansas, between the hours of 1:30 and 7:00 p.m. We do not have the resources to transport dogs or to arrange for GUR runs.

Because of Warden Sam Kline's discontinuation of the Kansas Correctional Facilities Greyhound Project, we no longer have any TLC greyhounds being fostered at the prison.

We will continue to work with prospective adopters to provide the best greyhound fit for their home. TLC Greyhound Adoption is different in that we adopt to qualified homes in all states and Canada. We also work with families with young children - we believe that with the proper training of the greyhound, adults and children, there's a lot of love to be shared.

Angelle

"Chasmo's Angelle" is a pretty, frosty-faced brindle girl with a white chest, white socks, white tipped tail and a white patch on her shoulder. She was born July 17, 2002 of sire: Always Faithful; dam: Chasmo's Heidi. (*TISSUE ALERT!*) Angelle had been adopted by a senior gentleman when she was 3 years old. They were best of friends for 5 years and Angelle was the queen of the house. Her owner passed away unexpectedly - just he and Angelle...alone. Angelle was taken to the local animal shelter where they identified the greyhound farm she came from. She went back to the farm - confused and heartbroken...her whole life had been turned upside down and she'd lost her best friend. TLC has placed her in a foster home with other greyhounds. Angelle's foster Mom says she's starting to relax and fit in - she's not happy about the "demotion" from Alpha Diva and would really like to be an only dog. Her foster Mom also says that Angelle would be wonderful in a home with older people - she loves to stand next to you and be petted...a precious Princess.

Falcon

This gorgeous boy is white with a brindle patch above his tail. Falcon was born May 11, 2008 of sire: Inspecda Deck; dam: Bella Neutron. His NGA registered name is "Bella Porong" (?!?!). When we picked him up at the greyhound farm and saw this handsome dude with a Roman nose, we had to have another name for him. Falcon's foster mom named him on the way home. She reports that for a youngster and right off the farm, he is so sweet and is doing great in their home with her 3 male greyhounds. Falcon had a hip injury during racing schooling, so he didn't race. His injury healed and he's not suffering any ill effects. He is loving and affectionate and ignores my cats when when he comes to my house for play dates. Falcon is crazy about kids! He'd do great in a home with bigger kids - he's probably too big and playful for little ones under 8 years old.

Kelly

"Chasmo's Kelly" is a striking brindle girl with a pretty black mask, black ears and the coolest curly tail. Kelly was born August 27, 2008 out of sire: Flying Hydrogen; dam: Chasmo's Houdini. Kelly started greyhound schooling, but was more interested in going back to the starting box to visit with her trainers. She's been in your webmistress' house for several months. Kelly has been living with other greyhounds and cats. She's very correctible and SO LOVING! She has never acted like a crazy puppy. Loves to cockroach in the hallway or the newly discovered couch. She thinks she's a lap dog- she'll climb up in your lap to give hugs.

Savy

"Sav's Bodacious" is a red fawn female - born September 7, 2002 of sire: Gable Oscar; dam: Lady Eliza. Savy ran in 85 known races. She turned up at the McPherson Animal Shelter - they called TLC after her owner declined to pick her up. Her foster home is with Angelle and Sweetie. Savy's foster Mom says she doesn't think she'd be cat or small animal safe. She's a sweet, dainty little girl.

Sweetie

SPECIAL NEEDS GIRL...REDUCED ADOPTION FEE!
Sweetie's NGA registered name is "Fast Treats" - she's a bright red brindle girl with a deep white tuxedo chest & white tipped tail...she weighs about 66 lbs. Sweetie was born January 19, 2002 of sire: Molotov; dam: Kiowa Greenane - she ran in 61 known races. Sweetie is very affectionate and beautiful - a sweet, sweet girl. She was adopted by a family from TLC in 2006...came back to us in June of this year. Sweetie broke her left leg in 2007 while jumping off the porch. She had extensive (and expensive) orthopedic surgery repair, but still limps on that leg. She will need long term anti-inflammatory meds, glucosamine supplements and physical therapy, according to TLC's veternarian. (Just little bending exercises to keep joints and tendons limber.) Sweetie can't do large flights of stairs, one to three are fine. Sweetie loves everybody - gets along with other dogs - was in a home with a cat.
