AVAILABLE HOUNDS
"A dog is a smile and a wagging tail. What is in between doesn't matter
much."
--- Clara Ortega

Magnus - "Now I run for fun in my forever home!"

The dogs listed and pictured below are currently available for adoption (unless otherwise noted). If you are interested
in any of these greyhounds, please refer to our
adoption application
for more information. As of August 1, 2006 the adoption fee is $175.00 unless otherwise noted. Your adoption fee check must be sent with your application to be considered. If, for any reason your application is denied, your check will be returned.
Updates:
Please note that due to safety issues, TLC does NOT consider "Invisible Fencing", or underground fencing an acceptable fence for greyhounds. A secure, 4 to 6 foot FENCE, enclosing part or most of a yard is a REQUIREMENT! Invisible fencing doesn't keep the "bad guys" out of your yard.
Reminder -- Transportation of dogs adopted through TLC is the responsibility of the adopter.
If you adopt a dog from us, please plan to pick up your dog at our facility (Country Kennels),
located at 323 2400 Avenue, Solomon, Kansas, between the hours of 1:30 and 7:00 p.m. We do not have the resources to transport dogs or
to arrange for GUR runs.

Because of Warden Sam Kline's discontinuation of the Kansas Correctional Facilities Greyhound Project, we no longer have any TLC greyhounds being fostered at the prison.
We will continue to work with prospective adopters to provide the best greyhound fit for their home. TLC Greyhound Adoption is different in that we adopt to qualified homes in all states and Canada. We also work with families with young children - we believe that with the proper training of the greyhound, adults and children, there's a lot of love to be shared.

Falcon
This gorgeous boy is white with a brindle patch above his tail. Falcon was born May 11, 2008 of sire: Inspecda Deck; dam: Bella Neutron. His NGA registered name is "Bella Porong" (?!?!). When we picked him up at the greyhound farm and saw this handsome dude with a Roman nose, we had to have another name for him. Falcon's foster mom named him on the way home. She reports that for a youngster and right off the farm, he is so sweet
and is doing great in their home with her 3 male greyhounds. Falcon had a hip injury during racing schooling, so he didn't race. His injury healed and he's not suffering any ill effects. He is loving and affectionate and ignored cats when introduced to them.
Rain - ADOPTED!
"Wjs Raindeer Jem" is a striking, beautiful brindle girl - born February 19, 2004 of sire: Stan's Boy Flyer; dam: Strong Lapis Jem. Rain was in our now defunct prison program and was adopted from there. She came back to TLC this summer - her family's life had changed and we promised we find another wonderful home for her. Rain would like to be the alpha dog - or an only dog. She was in a home with
other dogs (small ones), cats and was used to being around children. She's with other greyhounds, small dogs and cats in our home, where she's being fostered. A friend came to our house the other day and brought her 6 year old granddaughter. Rain was so happy to see a kid - she whined and kind of danced around, trying to get the little girl's attention. Rain is very laid back - loves to sun herself
on the deck or in the grass.
Rusty
Rusty is a beautiful, white & brindle patched young boy - born in July 2005 to a breeder in Iowa and rescued from an animal shelter in Nebraska. His sire is: Craigie Whistler; dam: SOS Jasper. Rusty went through the Hutchinson Correctional Facility training program and was adopted to a loving home with a female greyhound. Circumstances changed in Rusty's home and he became unhappy when foster children were introduced to the home.
Because his people loved him so much, they wanted a home where Rusty could get a lot of attention. He's been in my home for a couple of months and has settled in nicely with our 5 female greyhounds. Rusty DOES love to snuggle on the couch with anyone who will pet him and rub his ears. He's a great nap buddy - curling up for a snooze. He has great manners and is respectful of the bossy female greys in our house. He's also fine with smaller
dogs and cats. Our 6 year old granddaughter has spent time with us and he pretty much ignores her.
