AVAILABLE HOUNDS

"A dog is a smile and a wagging tail. What is in between doesn't matter much."
--- Clara Ortega

Magnus - "Now I run for fun in my forever home!"

The dogs listed and pictured below are currently available for adoption (unless otherwise noted). If you are interested in any of these greyhounds, please refer to our adoption application for more information. As of August 1, 2006 the adoption fee is $175.00 unless otherwise noted. Your adoption fee check must be sent with your application to be considered. If, for any reason your application is denied, your check will be returned.

Updates:

Please note that due to safety issues, TLC does NOT consider "Invisible Fencing", or underground fencing an acceptable fence for greyhounds. A secure, 4 to 6 foot FENCE, enclosing part or most of a yard is a REQUIREMENT! Invisible fencing doesn't keep the "bad guys" out of your yard.

Reminder -- Transportation of dogs adopted through TLC is the responsibility of the adopter. If you adopt a dog from us, please plan to pick up your dog at our facility (Country Kennels), located at 323 2400 Avenue, Solomon, Kansas. We do not have the resources to transport dogs or to arrange for GUR runs.

Billy

"Demo Billy" is a red fawn male - born March 5, 2006 of sire: Dodgem By Design; dam: Castor D's Pinky. He just went into the Hutchinson Correctional Facility - Billy is a shy, quiet boy.

Coyote

"Odd Coyote" (aka Coy) is a fine boned, leggy white and brindle girl - born January 7, 2006 of sire: Craigie Whistler; dam: Odd Romona. Coy graduated from the HCF greyhound prison program and was adopted late last year. Her owners decided that she needed to be in a home without other dogs, because she got a little aggressive with smaller dogs. Coy has been in our home for a couple of weeks and has been fine with our greyhounds, cats and other small dogs. She does give the indication that she'd be willing to be the alpha dog. Otherwise, Coy is sweet, affectionate, loves to play with toys and chew bones and is very lady like. She loves to go on walks and car rides, sits pretty for treats and sleeps all night in one of the many open kennels/crates in our home.

Danica

"Odd Danica" lives up to her racing name (Danica Patrick). Instead of Indy Cars, greyhound Danica ran in 141 races. Danica is a red brindle - her brindling is almost pencil thin. She was born June 28, 2004 of sire: Fortified Power; dam: Odd Liter. (Liter is a graduate of the TLC adoption program.) Danica is very loving and is presently at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

Fancy

"I'm Fancy" is a white female with a dark brindle patch on her left side and some brindling on her face. You might remember I'm Darlene (Darlene) a year or so back...Fancy and Darlene are litter sisters. Fancy was born September 11, 2004 of sire: Funs Best; dam: I'm the Wind. She ran in 86 races. Fancy and Jersey Girl are BFF's - they love to be with each other and play together.

Fever

"Ppz Fever Pitch" (Fever) had a high prey drive, so no small creatures or cats in a home for this gal. Fever is a 60 lb. blue fawn, born September 8, 2004 out of sire: Ben Awhile; dam: Asti Drama. She ran in 16 races, finally decided she didn't want to run. The HCF greyhound/prison program has calmed Fever down quite a bit - she's pretty quiet and doesn't appreciate all the noise and commotion. Her handlers are working on her the shyness that has developed since she went into prison. She's a very pretty girl - in certain lights, her "blue overlay" really stands out. Fever is an affectionate little lady and is ready for her forever home.

Foil - ADOPTED!

Foil is a darling little brindle girl with part of a question mark on her forehead. She was born September 20, 2005 of sire: Craigie Glen; dam: Koko Break. Foil is a cute, wagging bundle of love! She's a favorite at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

Glory

"Odd Glory" is still just a youngster - a good-sized, fawn female pup. She was born in September of 2006 of sire: Odd Tiger; dam: Odd Logic. Glory is all puppy - wild, crazy, energetic, oh...and a chewer. Glory is doing very well with her training at prison...she's calming down and becoming more mannerly. She makes everyone laugh - she's such a clown and a silly pup. Glory will need to go to a home that is greyhound savvy...especially puppy-greyhound savvy! No small children and no cats at this time.

Jack

"Odd Janecek" is a handsome, outgoing fawn male - born April 18, 2004 of sire: Kiowa Sweet Trey; dam: Odd Motivate. Jack ran in 48 races and went into the Hutchinson Correctional Facility with his tail wagging. While I was taking his half sister - Tigress - into the prison, he decided to try to get in my SUV's front seat. When I came out, Jack was stuck between the front and back seats and wedged against the passenger door.

Jasper

"Odd Jasper" is a handsome white and fawn boy with a wagging, helicopter tail! He was born September 2, 2004 of sire: EA's Itzaboy; dam: Odd Ashley. Jasper was fast on the track, but kept looking to the right when he ran...a big no-no. Jasper has the cutest "mane" up the back of his neck...all the way to the middle of his head - kind of like a mohawk. Jasper likes to greet everyone with a big smile on his face. He is NOT cat safe and can't go to a home with small children. Jasper needs to be in a home where his people can give him lots of attention - he has some separation anxiety. He was in a home with little kids and another greyhound and did not do well.

Jersey Girl

Jersey Girl is a white and red girl, born February 2006. Be sure to notice the "almost heart" on her right side. She's a sweet, shy girl - loves to be with people and plays well with the other greyhounds. Jersey especially likes to spend time with her BFF - Fancy!

Julia - ADOPTED!

"Odd Julia" - another Grasshopper daughter, born August 17, 2002 of sire: Molotov; dam: Odd Grasshopper. Julia is a pretty white and black girl - very active and interested in small animals and cats (so she's probably not small creature safe). Julia ran in 134 known races, mostly in Tucson, Arizona. Julia's inmate handlers helped Julia become more comfortable with groups of people. They also report that Julia loves to play and run...especially with the other greyhounds. She doesn't like to be around large crowds of people, but does fine when she accompanies her handler to class. Julia gets really close to one or two people - she's not an "in your face" greyhound. Julia was paroled from the prison program and is now in a foster home until she gets adopted. She is a sweet, loving girl and is enjoying couches, carpets and lots of attention from her foster family.

Lady - ADOPTED!

Lady is a small, dark brindle girl...born in November of 2005. She was very shy while at the TLC kennel. Lady went to a foster home (with 2 other adopted girl greyhounds - Gina & Rachel). Lady's foster Mom reports: "Lady has been with us since December and has come such a long way. She is doing great - loves the children and is fine with the cats. She now comes when called, and wags her tail at her foster family. She's learned how to go up and down stairs, and gives lots of affection." Lady probably should be in a home with another greyhound. She'd also benefit from a kind, fairly quiet home. She does bark to alert when someone is at the door or if she hears an unfamiliar noise.

Lady Jane - ADOPTION PENDING

Lady Jane is a drop-dead GORGEOUS girl - her black coat is sleek and shiny and that white on her chest and the back of her neck is so pretty. Lady Jane is very striking and is as sweet as she is pretty. She was born in November of 2005 - we don't know much else about her - she was in an animal shelter when TLC got her. The story is that she'd been living with 2 year old twin boys and they kept opening the front door and letting her out. Her owners were tired of springing her from the pound, so she's in the prison program now and is doing great.

Landon

"Rio Hb Landon" was born August 9, 2001 of sire: Molotov; dam: Cokie Jo. He's a very handsome, black brindle with a white tuxedo chest, white toes on his back feet and a white tipped tail. He ran in 51 races, coming in first in several. Landon was in a home for almost 2 years - his family's situation changed and they were not able to keep him. Landon is SUCH a sweet, calm boy, he loves to run with the other greyhounds, but is also content to snooze on a floor pillow. He's fine with cats, small dogs and really likes the other male greyhound in his foster home.

Marshall

"Odd Marshall" is a fawn male, born January 20, 2004 of sire: Dodgem by Design; dam: Odd Drew. Marshall is a half brother to Kit, Monty, Odyssey, and Dish. He ran in 55 known races...and is currently at the Toronto, KS Work Facility. His inmate handler says Marshall is good with kids and likes being around people. He does not like having his tail touched or pulled (well, I wouldn't, either). Marshall hangs with his person, right by their side...he's very loyal and loving.

Patches

"Pretty Patches" IS a pretty, dark brindle girl - born July 10, 2003 of sire: Dominator; dam: Lidia Pretty. Patches is a very friendly girl - meets everyone with a wagging tail and a smile on her face. She was briefly in a home with cats (ignored them) and other dogs before she went into the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

Sabor

"Odd Sabor" is a white and brindle girl - born May 7, 2005 of sire: Odd Tiger; dam: Odd Romona. Sabor ran in 4 training races, but wasn't interested. Sabor was at my house for over a week after spay surgery. She's a very playful and sweet pup, but is most definately NOT cat safe! Sabor had a taste of kitty fur with both of our cats. She's currently at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility...being treated like a diva. Her handlers report that she's very inquisitive and somewhat territorial about her "space". Sabor is loving and wants to be with her people - she'd be fine as an only dog.

Sadie

Sadie is a pretty brindle girl - don't be fooled by her frosty face. She was born February of 2004. TLC acquired Sadie when a family with small children had to give her up because they were living in an apartment. Sadie tested positive for heartworms when we first got her - TLC president Sheryl nursed her through the long and grueling process of killing heartworms. She's in the prison program now and is a sweet, lively girl. She can jump flat footed - like she's on a pogo stick!

Shane

"Demo Shane" is a red fawn male - born March 5, 2006 of sire: Dodgem By Design; dam: Castor D's Pinky. Shane is a litter brother of Billy...and also has just gone into the Hutchinson Correctional Facility - Shane is a shy, quiet boy.

Spencer

"Chasmo's Spencer" is a sturdy white and brindle boy - born July 16, 2001 of sire: Fortified Power; dam: Chasmo's Callie. We don't know too much about Spencer - he raced in 41 races...for the last year, he's been living with a family. Because of a split, Spencer couldn't stay with his guy. He's now at my house - living large with our 4 girl greys and Landon. Spencer is a VERY affectionate boy - loves to have his head and ears rubbed. He's fine with cats and small dogs.

Taylor

Taylor is a sweet, black female greyhound, with a showy white tuxedo chest. She is currently at the Toronto, KS Work Facility. Her handlers say she is very friendly, good natured and likes to run and play. Taylor is good with older kids, but NOT cat safe. She doesn't care to be around younger kids - removes herself from being around them.

Tigress

"Odd Tigress" is a pretty, white and brindle girl - born August 16, 2003 of sire: Kiowa Sweet Trey; dam: Odd Ashley. Tigress ran in 36 races and is happy to be socializing at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

Warrior

"Ppz War Eagle" was a graduate of the HCF greyhound program - he's been in a home for 2 years and came back to TLC because he wasn't getting along with the smaller Whippet in the house. At this time, War Eagle is being fostered at one of our volunteer's house...who had adopted War Eagle's litter brother - American Eagle. Since two Eagles were too confusing, we're calling him Warrior. He's a beautiful dark brindle with white toes, chest, tail tip and a white snippet down his nose. He was born March 3, 2004 of sire: U O Me; dam: Its the Eagle. Warrior's foster Mom is also fostering Kit and reports that all 3 boys get along just great. She has a yappy, bossy Chihuahua that Warrior hasn't paid attention to at all. He's a quiet, reserved boy - not an "in your face" or "velcro" kind of dog.
